In stillness lies your power

meridians qi recipe the five elements winter Jan 18, 2021

From a Chinese Medicine perspective, when energy runs smoothly in the body, good health and a joyful spirit result.
Emotions are energy in motion and treated accordingly in Chinese medicine.
Emotional Qi needs to flow through the body, rather than stagnate and block the flow of Qi. When emotions are natural and flowing appropriately, we can release energy stagnation from the body as it arises.

Here is a simple Qi practice to release any energy of despair or fear from your body and recharge your Qi by connecting with the universal energy that is always available to us.

PRACTICE NOW

For the aromatic experience, I use Juniper Berry Essential Oil for this practice. Juniper Berry has an affinity for the water element and strengthens willpower and self-esteem. Just smelling the woody aroma is calming when you feel anxious, fearful and low. (if you don’t have Oils, you can order here or do it without).

Here in Europe, the days are getting a little longer, there is more light, but Winter is still very much present. In Chinese medicine, we call this period Yang within Yin. When the spark of Yang is starting to surge towards expansion but Yin still has the stronghold. What does this mean for us energetically?

We may feel impatience, and want to charge ahead into Spring activity rather than continue to rest and restore.
When we check in with Nature, we notice that she is still. Her work is happening deep under the ground. She is still deciding what will she allow to surge upward, towards the light and what must die and feed the Earth. This is what we can learn from Her.

There is no rushing, only accepting what is, and utilising this clarity to decide what areas of our lives get nourishment in the form of our attention and energy.

"He who stands on tiptoe
doesn't stand firm.
He who rushes ahead
doesn't go far.
He who tries to shine
dims his own light.
He who defines himself
can't know who he really is.
He who has power over others
can't empower himself.
He who clings to his work
will create nothing that endures.

If you want to accord with the Tao,
just do your job, then let go."
